This valley, which extends from the imposing glacier Stelvio National Park to the town of Lana, south of Merano, is best described with expressions like unspoiled nature, idyllic villages, groups of farms, steep slopes and mountain peaks.
Driving on a new but with a lot of turns road that leads to Val d'Ultimo, this spot seems to be from another planet. Even the artificial lake doesn't seem to have affected the pure nature here. With these geographical and environmental conditions, it's no wonder that in spring and summer the Valley would evolve into an excellent hiking region! Wide paths for walking or touring around the mountains are suitable for the more demanding athletes as well as for the beginners. The 700 km of carefully marked routes, with plenty possibilities to rest in mountain huts or in the Hills, with educational and awareness special tracks, make the summer stay in Val d'Ultimo an unforgettable experience in close contact with nature! Since the summer of 2009, the valley offers something new: the cable car of the hut Guazza - Val d'Ultimo, which in 8 minutes takes all nature lovers from Pracupola to the ideal starting point for your wonderful hikes.
In winter the Guazza hut, with its 18.5 kilometers of carefully prepared trails, is transformed into a ski area particularly suitable for families.
Although international sport figures train here, this enchanting region is little known, because only recommended in a confidential manner.
There are also available to everyone up to 25 km of trails for cross country skiing, sledge hockey and skating!
In Val d'Ultimo, man and nature live in balance. And the beneficial effect is notoriously contagious!
