The federal state Vorarlberg is located in the outer west of Austria and is limited by imposing mountain ranges, like the Rätikon, Arlberg and Silvretta, just as Europe’s biggest sea, the Lake Constance. This lake is picturesquely situated in the 4-country-corner, of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The areas of Kleinwalsertal and Montafon are ideal for hiking or mountain-biking, the wood of Bregenz is primarily know as a recreation area while the Lake Constance is the perfect place for water sportsmen (an area of 541 km²). In the summer there are organized the famous Festival of Bregenz. But Vorarlberg’s culture offers also more: The art house, the museum and the many small festivals and events around the year. In the winter you can ski on the adventurous slopes, which sometimes have also a tradition: 30 skiing areas with 280 lifts and 1,200 km of slopes can be used.
